Learn to Skate
The West Salem Hockey Association Learn to Skate program is developed for first time and young skaters. This program is geared towards skaters that have very little ice skating experience or have never skated at all.
Ages
What aged players are appropriate for this program?
Example: skaters are typically between the ages of three and six or at the parents discretion.
When
What time of the year does this program run?
Example: Season begins in late October or November, and runs through January
Where
Where are practices and games typically held?
Example: Practices and home games are held at the RecPlex. Games may be played across the metro region.
Practices
When are practices and how often are they?
Example: Teams practice 2-3 times per week.
Games
How many games will they play? What days of the week?
Example: although practices will have team oriented, small games, there will be no official games played for the learn to skate program
Equipment
What will my child need for learn to skate?
Example: Although skates, helmet and protective gloves are required, it is recommended to have some sort of knee and elbow padding as well.

What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?

The WSHA association provides ice time for those looking to start their skating skills. Our learn to skate program helps children ages 3-7 prepare for playing hockey by starting the basics, Learing to Skate!
