2026-27 Season

The West Salem Hockey Association has levels of hockey ranging from Learn to Skate (ages 3-7), Mites (ages 5-8), Squirts (ages 9-10), Peewees (ages 11-12), and Bantams (ages 13-14). In addition to these age ranges, girls only hockey includes 10U, 12U and 14U age levels. When registering your child, you will automatically be put into the appropriate age range/level, assuming you chose the correct pricing/age levels. The season starts late October or Early November, and goes through the beginning of March.

Ages

Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association uses January 1st as their cutoff date for age ranges. If your child is born January 1, 2018 or later, you would fall into the mite program. January 1st 2016 to December 31st 2017 would put your child into Squirts or CRS 10U (girls). January 1st, 2014 to December 31st 2015 would put your child into Pewees or CRS 12U (girls). January 1st, 2012 to December 31st 2013 would put your child into Bantams or CRS 14U (girls).

When

The regular season runs from mid October through the beginning of March.

Practices

Practice dates have not been confirmed at this time. Typically practice is held (2) times per week, and are typically between Monday and Friday, allowing for games Friday's-Sunday's. Practices (depending on age levels) are typically held between 5:00pm - 7:00pm for Mites and Squirts, and 7:00pm and 9:00pm for Peewees and Bantams.

Games

WAHA Mite programs take part in Jamborees. Youth teams in the area all gather at one rink to play games. Mites have approximately 8 Jamborees throughout the regular season. They consists of 3-4 short hockey games at each event. Games for Blue and White teams are played “cross ice,” and games for the Red team(s), games are played on half-ice with goalies.


For Squirts through Bantams, Games are scheduled via the "team manager" and are typically held on Saturdays and/or Sundays.



Jerseys & Equipment

Jerseys are provided by the association for every child. As your child grows, they will be given a new jersey every (3) years, unless the child/parent is willing to pay for a new jersey outside of the (3) year renewal.


Equipment can be loaned to skaters that need equipment. The WSHA association has plenty of equipment to keep your children safe. Costs

WSHA Registration Fees, USA Hockey Membership, minimal equipment costs, skate sharpening.

WSHA Prides itself on providing everything we can to keep costs minimal for our members. Every year, we are consistantly anywhere from 25%-50% less than the surrounding associations.
