Learn To Skate
The Learn to Skate (LTS) program is designed to teach children the fundamental progression of standing to skating forward and backwards to executing turns. All LTS sessions are entirely free, open to beginning skaters of all ages, and offered weekly throughout the season.
There will also be a “Try Hockey for Free day” at the beginning of the season, which is an introductory one-hour session to the sport.

What aged players are appropriate for this program?
Example: Appropriate players at least 9 years old who have completed at least one year of Learn-to-Play.

Example: Season begins with tryouts in August and runs until playoffs in February.

2025-2026
West Salem Hockey Association offers a Learn to Skate program for young new skaters. The program is primarily designed for children ages 3-5 years old, although older aged kids are welcome to join. Practices are one hour long, once a week, for roughly 6 weeks.
