Work Hours

Each West Salem Hockey Association family will need to complete 20 work hours per season.   (Exceptions are Learn To Skate, Termites, and first year skaters*.)

You can track your work hours online.  Your login is your email address.  Your password is your last name.


Work Hour Breakdown

 Each season, 20 overall work hours are needed per family.  Here's a breakdown:

  • General work hours: 12
  • Fundraising Work Hours: 8


Easy Ways to Get General Work Hours

Here's a list of common ways to obtain work hours: 

  • Attending board meetings
  • Working at concessions
  • Running the official scorebook
  • Operating the time clock
  • Working a penalty box
  • Parent Representative
  • Walking in a parade with WSHA
  • Cleaning rink, warming house and locker rooms
  • Service on Board approved committees
  • Shoveling or sweeping
  • Equipment upkeep
  • Driving the Zamboni


Easy Ways to Get Fundraising Work Hours

Here's a list of common ways to obtain work hours:

  • Golf Outing
  • Dairy Bar/Water Booth
  • Squirt Tourney
  • Face Off
  • Rink Sign sales
  • Calendar Raffle coordination, (activity other than selling raffle tickets)
  • Helping with WSHA events


Work Hour Alternatives 

We understand that time is valuable and not everyone has the extra time to help the organization.  If you would prefer to do fewer than the 20 required work hours, you can buy out the remaining hours at $30 per hour.  Checks should be made payable to West Salem Hockey Association and can be given to your team manager or any board member.

*First year skaters are defined as players new to WSHA and have never played organized hockey for any other association.  WSHA encourages these families to participate in work hour activities, but it is not required.
